How Xcelerator Live works

RULE 1: THE PROPOSAL

All entrepreneurs must complete the downloadable application form available here with as much detail as possible. Application submission closes on 30th October 2019.

RULE 2: THE SHORTLIST

All applications will be reviewed by Cornerstone Partners after submission deadline. They will then select the top 4 businesses to move forward to the Xcelerator Live session.

The Black Investor 360 team will contact the top 4 entrepreneurs to let them know they will be moving forward.

All applicants will be contacted regarding the final decisions in advance of the event.

RULE 3: THE PITCH

Each entrepreneur has 10 mins for their pitch and any demos. Entrepreneurs must start the session by stating their name, the name of the business, and the amount of money they are pitching for.

This is then followed with a pitch of up to 7 minutes by our entrepreneurs. Pitches can include presentation slides and demonstrations within reason. Judges cannot interrupt the pitch during this time; but if it exceeds 7 minutes, entrepreneurs will be stopped.

RULE 4: THE Q&A

All entrepreneurs will be questioned on their pitch by our judges. Entrepreneurs DO NOT have to answer all the questions asked, but what they do or do not choose to answer may affect the outcome - for example, if they refuse to reveal net profits. They may ask the judges any questions that help them determine whether they are suitable investors for their business.

RULE 5: THE FEEDBACK

Following Q&A, judges will give their feedback on each business as an investible venture. The Black Investor 360 audience will also be asked for feedback via an interactive poll; and can vote for their favourite business to win.

RULE 6: THE DEAL

Following a short deliberation period, and audience consideration, the winning business is offered a deal based on the requested amount. The deal agreed on the day is an unwritten agreement that remains subject to a vote from the Cornerstone Partners board, due diligence checks, the negotiation and agreement of full form documentation; and relies on the integrity of both investor and entrepreneur to freely enter the transaction and be fully committed to seeing it through. Final investment decisions shall be made by Cornerstone Partners in their sole and absolute discretions

However, the deal is solely between Cornerstone Partners and the entrepreneur and after additional meetings, if an agreement cannot be reached, neither party is legally obligated to complete the deal.

Black Investor 360 remains impartial, and will not be involved in the business contract between the two parties.
